The Porcelain Veneer Journey: Before, During, and After
Before:
Your journey to a picture-perfect smile begins with a consultation at Pacha & Bijan Dental. We’ll assess your oral health, discuss your aesthetic goals, and take impressions and x-rays of your teeth. This appointment is crucial to customize veneers that align with the natural look and function of your teeth.
During:
- Preparation: A thin layer (typically 0.5 millimeter) of enamel from the tooth surface is removed, roughly equal to the thickness of the veneer that will be added. Local anesthesia can be used to numb the area, ensuring minimal discomfort.
- Impression: Once your teeth are prepared, we’ll take a mold of them. This mold is sent to a dental laboratory where your veneers will be crafted.
- Bonding: Upon your next visit, we’ll place the veneer on your tooth to examine its fit and color, making adjustments if necessary. The tooth is then cleaned, polished, and etched (which roughens the tooth to allow for a strong bonding process). A special cement is applied to the veneer, and it's placed on your tooth. Once it’s perfectly positioned, we use a light beam to activate chemicals in the cement, causing it to harden quickly.
After:
Following the procedure, you might experience some sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures, but this typically subsides in a few days.
